Quick Disconnect Wrists for Adult Electric Hands
Quick Disconnect (QD) wrists for adult electric hands are often provided to enable the user to quickly and easily interchange electric terminal devices. For users who have more than one terminal device, like an electric hook (ETD) and a prosthetic hand, a QD wrist is essential. These wrists are similar to the Otto Bock QD wrist which became the default industry wrist standard over the years. Now several manufacturers are making these wrist units. They consist of a 4-conductor coaxial female connector on the terminal device and a mating male coxial plug on the wrist. The wrist assembly actually consists of 3 components; the lamination ring (shown above), coaxial plug and coupling piece. Lamination Rings are available in four sizes to match various forearm wrist dimensions; 40, 45, 50 and 54 mm diameter.
